Thunderbird LLC has announced the acquisition of Bright Plastics Inc., located in Greensboro, North Carolina. For more than 30 years, Bright Plastics has been committed to helping companies solve problems and find affordable solutions to their manufacturing needs. The addition of Bright Plastics to the Thunderbird portfolio of manufacturing companies expands its injection-molding support for a range of industries, including medical, defense, aerospace, transportation, recreation, waste management, and telecom.

The acquisition includes a Class 7 ISO-compliant clean room, essential for manufacturing medical products such as IV connectors and surgical instruments. Bright Plastics also is home to a 67,000-square-foot corporate manufacturing center and a 103,000-square-foot manufacturing and logistics hub. Over 160 Bright Plastics employees will continue to partner with customers from design to distribution.

“Bright Plastics is a valuable addition to the Thunderbird family of companies,” said Kevin Prunsky, Chairman of the Board of Thunderbird. “We will benefit from the broader reach of the diverse capabilities at Bright Plastic, as will our customers. We expect customers to realize their goals in new ways thanks to the unique equipment and depth of knowledge at Bright.”

Phil Kretekos, President of Thunderbird, envisions a greater range of support for OEMs looking to elevate their product output.

“The specialized abilities at Bright Plastics coupled with their collaborative approach to manufacturing complements our existing high-volume plastic production capabilities,” Kretekos said. “Thunderbird continues to seek out companies with the expertise to support our customer’s evolving needs.”

“Becoming a Thunderbird company is a testament to our team at Bright Plastics,” said Kirk Sparks, President of Bright Plastics. “This move ensures the legacy of our founder, Steve Bright, and speaks to the talent and commitment of the professionals at Bright who continually embrace new technology and new equipment to meet the demands of a growing customer base.”

The acquisition continues Thunderbird’s commitment to growth and investments in American manufacturing. Thunderbird provides active management solutions for operations as well as process improvements, equipment, and, most importantly, its people for all its companies, delivering the best customer experiences, outcomes, and satisfaction.
