Reporter: Mimi Silvia |Editor: Dikky SetiawanJAKARTA.The government's call through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry regarding the regulation on paid plastic bags did not make PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk discouraged.Manufacturers of various chemicals even claim that they can still earn money even though there are regulations. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry several times released Circular Letter number S.1230/PSLB3-PS/2016 concerning Prices and Mechanisms for Application of Paid Plastic Bags.Departing from the regulation, modern markets are required to charge Rp 200 to Rp 500 for every single plastic bag used by consumers when shopping. The rules take effect on February 21, 2016.The main spirit of the government is to minimize the use of plastic that is not environmentally friendly. As a result, like it or not, the producers of plastic chemicals have the potential to be negatively affected. However, this is not the case with Chandra Asri's calculations. The company with the code TPIA on the Indonesia Stock Exchange is sure that it will not lose its market. The reason is, the company claims to have polyethylene plastic ore that is safe for the environment.Harry Tamin, Investor Relations of PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk, said that Chandra Asri has been producing polyethylene that is safe for the environment since 2013. Therefore, they are confident that they can meet market needs with specifications that are in line with the government's wishes. Not just plastic raw materials, Chandra Asri processes polyethylene into plastic bags. The company named the environmentally friendly plastic bags with the Grene brand. They claim that the product made by Asrene is degradable, aka easy to decompose.Peek at Chandra Asri's website, Asrene is a trademark for their polyethylene products. There are two qualities of resin made, namely linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE).There are three products with LLDPE quality, namely blown film, tubular quench film and injection. While the quality of HDPE is in five products. The five include blown film, injection, monofilament, blow molding and pipe.Although claiming to have been producing environmentally friendly polyethylene for the past three years, Chandra Asri's management said it has not specifically monitored its sales growth."What is certain is that we provide plastic raw materials that are safe for the environment, we can be one of the choices for the plastic industry," said Harry to KONTAN, Wednesday (2/3).Just so you know, so far Chandra Asri has sold 50% of plastic products to support daily raw material needs.Throughout this year, the company is targeting revenue growth of 6.3%-7.3% from plastic equipment and other household applications.Meanwhile, in general, Chandra Asri makes three main products;namely ethylene, propylene and mixed C4.Ethylene and propylene are the raw materials for making polyethylene and polypropylene.Chandra Asri uses ethylene and propylene to support his own needs. So, only mixed C4 is sold to consumers. Now, the domestic market still dominates Chandra Asri's sales up to 80%."We focus on domestic because the market is still wide, the demand is still big," said Harry.Only then the remaining 20% is an export market, such as Singapore and Thailand.Especially for the export market, Chandra Asri specifically produces pyrolysis gasoline (py-gas).Check other News and Articles on Google News
