EASTHAMPTON — The Chamber of Greater Easthampton is hosting a virtual and in-person professional development and leadership conference, “sheLEADS,” on Friday, May 20 at the Keystone Building in the Boylston Room.
“This is a day of professional development with aims to provide tools, connections and resources for attendees,” said Moe Belliveau, executive director of the chamber. “The goal is for attendees to leave with relationships and connections that they didn’t have when they walked in.”
The conference is the first hybrid-style event the chamber has hosted. While tickets for attending in-person are currently sold out, virtual attendance tickets are still available for $29. Virtual tickets are available at easthamptonchamber.org. The virtual event will begin at 2 p.m.
For the in-person portion, the day kicks off at noon with a welcome address and is followed by a workshop on activating leadership strengths from Colleen DelVecchio of Easthampton-based Maxady LLC, formerly known as Colleen DelVecchio Consulting.
Attendees also will hear from keynote speaker Robin Glaser, senior vice president of business affairs at the Kraft Group, the holding company for the Kraft’s family businesses in professional sports, manufacturing and real estate development.
Glaser joined the Kraft Group in 2007 as senior advisor, and reports directly to Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft and President Jonathan Kraft. She handles various business projects and strategic initiatives for the organization, and is one of the Kraft family’s senior business advisors, executing special projects and philanthropic initiatives. She has overseen business operations for Kraft Sports Productions, the organization's video production house.
Glaser manages several operational and administrative functions for the New England Patriots, including league relations and legal, serving as a liaison for HR and finance, negotiating sport performance and technology deals, and supporting the player social justice fund initiative.
Following Glaser’s keynote address, a panel discussion on the “language of leadership” will be held at 3:30 p.m., featuring Pia Kumar, chief strategy officer of Holyoke-based plastic injection molding manufacturer Universal Plastics; Dr. Lynnette Watkins, president and CEO Cooley Dickinson Health Care; and Waleska Lugo-DeJesús, CEO of Springfield-based Inclusive Strategies, which focuses on enhancing the development of personal and institutional goals for addressing systemic racism.
“It’s all incredibly exciting,” said Belliveau of the day’s schedule of events. “Many times as professionals, we end up just attending conferences, but this requires attendees to be engaged. It’s a high-energy day.”

Mayor Nicole LaChapelle’s office has announced that it will be supporting the efforts of Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ludlow, and has set up two donation boxes in the city. The parish is working directly with hospitals, orphanages, refugee camps, military and families in Ukraine, and is collecting donations for those who have been affected by the war in Ukraine
One donation box has been left in the city clerk’s office of the Municipal Building, located at 50 Payson Ave., and the other box is set up inside the Public Safety Complex at 32 Payson Ave. Items donated will be delivered to Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ludlow. There is also a box in front of the church, located at 45 Newbury St. in Ludlow, where residents may drop off donations directly.
According to the church, there is an urgent need for: water purification tablets and straws, combat application tourniquets, combat-style first aid kits; bandages of all sizes, bleed stop medications, pain relief medicine, and eye protection glasses. Other items sought include earplugs, solar battery packs, foldable walkers, walking canes, crutches, foldable/collapsible stretchers, night vision equipment, wet wipes, toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, deodorant and hair brushes.

The church is also collecting monetary funds to help offset the cost of shipping, buying specific items that are needed and sending money to Ukraine.
