Boy will present two completely different injection moulding machines in Poland. While the largest injection moulding machine of the manufacturer — a Boy 125 E with a horizontal clamping force of 1,250 kN — represents the upper limit of the company’s product range, the Boy 25 E VV with 250 kN is the most widely built Boy injection moulding machine.
At the booth of the manufacturer’s Polish representative 1 Plastcompany Polska, a 125 E produces cutting pads made of polypropylene. The moulded parts are removed from the mould by the LR 5 linear handling system. The handling system has three linear axes as well as pneumatic rotary and swivel axes, which also enable simultaneous movements of the axes. Long-term measurements show a positioning repeatability of less than ± 0.1 mm for the respective axes. In accordance with the applicable Machinery Directive, this linear handling system is considered an incomplete machine. Therefore, the intended operation is only possible in connection with an injection moulding machine including an adapted safety enclosure.
Overmoulding of inserts is one of the company’s core competencies. Special insert moulding machines score points with a vertically arranged clamping unit and, in particular, with a fixed lower clamping platen. This prevents inserts from slipping during the clamping process. For such applications, the product range includes machine sizes from 100 to 600 kN clamping force. The 25 E VV on show at Plastpol with a vertical clamping force of 250 kN also scores with a footprint of only 1.37 m2 and plenty of space on the rear machine table for peripheral equipment and automation devices. As an alternative to the standard vertical injection unit, a 25 E VH is available with a horizontal unit for injection into the parting line. Among other things, this means that sprue marks on the moulded part are not obvious. Complex hot runner techniques can be omitted.
